Microbiological Testing for Safe Water Systems

Our Core Services

Legionella Testing

We use culture-based methods on selective media to detect and confirm Legionella species, including Legionella pneumophila, the strain most often linked to Legionnaires' disease. Results are reported in CFU/mL with full species identification. This testing is essential for cooling towers, hospitals, hotels, and other facilities working toward ASHRAE 188 compliance or investigating a suspected outbreak.

Heterotrophic Plate Count (HPC)

HPC measures the total population of aerobic bacteria in a water sample, giving you a broad snapshot of overall microbial activity. Rising HPC levels often signal biofilm buildup, aging plumbing, or a breakdown in disinfection, making this test a valuable early-warning tool for facility managers monitoring water quality over time.

Sewage Screen Analysis

Our sewage screen panel identifies organisms associated with fecal contamination, helping determine whether a water source has been compromised by a sewage intrusion. This testing is commonly requested after flooding, pipe breaks, or backflow incidents, and supports remediation decisions and safe reoccupancy planning.

Bacterial Pathogen Testing

Beyond routine indicators, we offer targeted testing for bacterial pathogens of concern in water systems, including coliforms, E. coli, and other disease-causing organisms. Presence/absence and MPN methods let us tailor testing to your facility, whether you're monitoring drinking water, cooling systems, or wastewater.

Pseudomonas Testing

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen that thrives in moist environments and can pose a serious risk to immunocompromised patients, making it a key concern for hospitals and long-term care facilities. We test for Pseudomonas using validated culture methods to help you monitor water outlets, ice machines, and other high-risk fixtures.

FAQs

Q: Do you offer on-site water sampling?
A: We specialize in lab analysis but provide kits and trusted referrals.

Q: How fast are results available?
A: HPC and indicator tests: 2–5 business days. Legionella: up to 7-10 days.

Q: Can I use my own bottles?
A: We recommend our treated bottles for compliance and accuracy.
